How can you be sure that the ladder you have purchased is actually safe to use?

A recent survey conducted by the Ladder Association has expressed some very serious concerns about the availability and use of substandard ladders in the UK – in particular, Telescopic Ladders.

The report relating to portable ladders (those that fall within the scope of product standard EN 131-6) found that a huge 82% of the ladders tested failed the required safety tests, were non-compliant and, in the majority of cases, were unsafe to use.

The Ladder Association believe that, with all telescopic ladders in the UK currently being imported, there is no safeguard against products being falsely verified as meeting UK safety standards by their manufacturer.
