Rees Astley Celebrates 50 Years of providing Business and Personal Insurances

2019 marks a very special year for Rees Astley who are celebrating fifty years of looking after their client’s business and personal insurances. Mike Gardner, one of the three Directors, who has been with the company since 1999, said “I, and my co-directors Alun Hughes and Steve Sadler, are incredibly proud to be part of a company that was formed in 1969. We are also proud to serve all of our clients some of whom have been with us for the entire 50-year period. We believe our success is due to three primary factors; the excellent ongoing relationships we strive to achieve with our valued clients, strong insurer connections and our dedicated loyal staff.”

Since 1969 when Rees Astley was formed by Alun Rees, Peris Astley and Barry Thomas in Eastgate, Aberystwyth things have changed dramatically. With nearly 50 staff Rees Astley are recognised as one of the largest independent insurance brokers in the region.  Additional offices in Shrewsbury and Newtown Powys, means that they are well placed to serve their clients across a wide area of Wales, the Midlands and further afield.  

In 2007 Rees Astley became proud members of the Willis Towers Watson Network. “The reason for doing this was to access specialist markets with benefits that we could pass onto our clients such as exclusive facilities, enhanced cover wordings, competitive premiums and improved, often exclusive, underwriting terms”.

And what does the future hold?

We recognise that the way people conduct their business is due, largely, to advances in technology. We continue to meet the new challenges that this brings and have invested heavily in IT to ensure we remain best placed to continue providing our clients with the first-class advice and service they have come to expect.
